My Tallow Arrived Melted! What do I do?

At Sun and Sage Beauty, we use 100% natural, grass-fed tallow, which melts beautifully on contact with your skin — but that same low melting point can cause the butter to soften or melt during warmer months in transit.
If your jar arrives a little melted, don’t worry — it’s still perfectly safe, effective, and fully usable.
🫙 If Your Tallow Butter Looks Half-Full…
Don’t panic! What you're seeing is a normal result of melting + settling. Our body butter is whipped to a light, airy texture — but when it melts during shipping, the air escapes, causing the volume to shrink (though the weight remains the same). You can use it as-is, or re-whip it back to its fluffy goodness with these simple steps:
💡 How to Re-Whip Your Tallow Butter

Create a double boiler on your stove. (You can find easy tutorials on YouTube.)

Scoop the butter into a bowl and melt it gently over low heat.

Once melted, remove from heat and place the bowl into an ice bath or fridge until it firms up.

Use a hand mixer to whip it until it looks light and fluffy again.
🧴 Tallow Balm?
If you're using one of our non-whipped tallow balms, and it arrives melted, just pop it in the fridge until solid. Good as new.
