Tallow is a nutrient-rich fat traditionally rendered from beef suet. It closely mimics the natural oils found in human skin, making it deeply moisturizing, protective, and highly bioavailable. It’s been used for generations to support healthy, resilient skin.

Yes! Our formula is intentionally gentle, free from toxins, preservatives, and synthetic additives—making it safe for delicate baby skin, eczema-prone areas, and anyone with sensitivities.

Because we don’t use stabilizers or waxes, your balm may soften or melt in transit. If that happens, just place it in the fridge for a few hours—it will firm back up without losing any of its benefits.

🌞 A Note About Warm Weather & Tallow

At Sun and Sage Beauty, we use 100% natural, grass-fed tallow, which melts beautifully on contact with your skin — but that same low melting point can cause the butter to soften or melt during warmer months in transit.

If your jar arrives a little melted, don’t worry — it’s still perfectly safe, effective, and fully usable.

🫙 If Your Tallow Butter Looks Half-Full…

Don’t panic! What you're seeing is a normal result of melting + settling. Our body butter is whipped to a light, airy texture — but when it melts during shipping, the air escapes, causing the volume to shrink (though the weight remains the same). You can use it as-is, or re-whip it back to its fluffy goodness with these simple steps:

💡 How to Re-Whip Your Tallow Butter

1. Create a double boiler on your stove. (You can find easy tutorials on YouTube.)

2. Scoop the butter into a bowl and melt it gently over low heat.

3. Once melted, remove from heat and place the bowl into an ice bath or fridge until it firms up.

4. Use a hand mixer to whip it until it looks light and fluffy again.

🧴 Tallow Balm?

If you're using one of our non-whipped tallow balms, and it arrives melted, just pop it in the fridge until solid. Good as new.

📦 Warm Weather Shipping Tips

• Keep an eye on your tracking info.

• Try to bring your package inside as soon as it’s delivered.

• Store your tallow in a cool spot — refrigeration isn’t required but is totally fine.

We strongly recommend selecting Route shipping protection at checkout. While melted tallow is still usable and not eligible for refunds or replacements, Route will protect you from loss, theft, or damage during transit — and claims are often resolved in 24 hours or less.

Warm Weather Disclaimer

Please note that our tallow-based products are heat-sensitive and may soften or melt during shipping in warmer months. To help prevent this:

• We ship only Monday through Wednesday in the summer to avoid weekend delays.
• We recommend customers retrieve their package promptly upon delivery and store products in a cool place.
• If your product arrives melted or softened, simply place it in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Sun and Sage Beauty is not responsible for melted products during shipping.
By placing your order, you acknowledge and accept this risk during warmer weather.

Lost or Damaged Packages

• We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages marked as "delivered" by the carrier.
• If your item arrives physically damaged (e.g., broken containers), please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos and your order number at [your email address]. We’ll do our best to make it right.
